Annuals

Our central valley has two contrasting seasons for seasonal flowers. This type of plant will give you the most color for that particular season, but would need to be replaced every year. While our summers are hot and dry, our winters are wet and frosty. This should not be an impediment to have colorful seasonal flowers year long. Zinnias, Vincas, Begonias among others love our hot summers and perform beautifully. When the weather gets rainy and cold, Pansies, Snapdragons and Ornamental Kales thrive. You would have to prepare and condition your soil twice a year to get best results when planting annuals.  April is the best time to plant summer flowers. For fall/winter flowers, October is the best month to plant. Keep in mind that most annuals need regular watering.
